Lindholm Charity

Sustainable farming in the Heart of Namibia

With our Lindholm Charity Initiative, we help at a local level to strengthen people, the community and nature. The focus is on direct help for people in need, the development and education of children and the sustainable use of nature and the preservation of biodiversity. Our work starts in the Omaruru region, but we hope to find partners all over Namibia to promote the common, happy life of all people in harmony with nature.

We are currently working towards recognition as an official Welfare Organization in Namibia. We will then be able to accept official donations and issue donation receipts (tax deductible). Lindholm Charity already guarantees that 100% of every donation reaches the recipients. We work entirely on a voluntary basis and there are no administrative costs or similar.

Educational Support

Youth unemployment in Namibia is over 45%. Children who have had the chance to finish school are often unable to continue their education due to a lack of money and know-how. In the last years, thanks to generous donations, we have been able to finance and organize training for a young woman from Omaruru to become a doctor’s receptionist (health care administrator) at the Atlantic Institute, Oshakati. The total costs of around 55,000 NAD (3,000 EUR) for tuition fees, travel and accommodation costs as well as food and clothing up to a 4-month internship in Windhoek were financed by donations. With motivation and ambition, Magdalene was the first in her family to successfully complete a vocational training and in 2025 she started her first job in Windhoek.

School Sponsorship

School education in Namibia is free of charge and compulsory school attendance is regulated by law until at least the seventh grade or until the age of 16. Despite the lack of school fees, the costs incurred for school uniforms and books, as well as the unavoidable accommodation of children in a hostel for the rural population, make it difficult for many families and children to afford to attend school in full. With less than 20 EUR (400 NAD) per month, a child can be financed to attend school and all the necessary equipment as well as travel home during the vacations. We organize such sponsorships and support and motivate parents to enable their children to attend school.

Youth promotion, sports and culture

Physical activity not only promotes health, but also gives the often unemployed children and adults a purpose, motivation and community cohesion. We are currently intensively supporting the Young Warriors and the Hakahana Chiefs – football teams from the location (township) of Omaruru. Not only financially, with training materials, balls, jerseys, fees for the NFL 3rd League and tournaments, but also with active support on the sidelines and with team transport. The team shows its gratitude through charitable work, such as clearing rubbish from a public road on Farm Lindholm. In addition, we support individual projects, such as the large Erongo youth tournament, the Governor’s Cup, which took place in Omaruru in 2024 or the Omaruru Shotokan Karate Club.
Since 2024 we are also supporting the Opuwo Traditional Youth Choir. A great initiative that gives hope to many young people in one of Namibia’s poorest regions.

Nature Conservation and Anti-Poaching Campaigns

On Farm Lindholm, a 1500ha area is reserved for nature alone. Without fences and almost without human intervention (except for watering holes in the dry season), Namibia’s diverse flora and fauna can flourish here. Projects for the renaturation and reintroduction of displaced animal and plant species are being set up.
Since poaching of wild animals (especially antelopes and pangolins) with brutal snares or traps is a major problem, we are working on educating the general population – the Young Warriors and the Hakahana Chiefs are contributing to this by wearing our anti-poaching logo on their jerseys.

Omaruru Children’s Haven

The Omaruru Children’s Haven in the location of Omaruru accommodates orphans and children from disadvantaged backgrounds and enables them to grow up in a loving environment. With a generous donation from Germany, we were able to make a contribution to modernizing the buildings and preparing them for the new family concept. New projects are planned and we are constantly supporting this great project.
